Broadlands Estate | Hampshire
Broadlands is an important historic country estate, the one time home of Earl Mountbatten and honeymoon location of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip. The current landscapes were finalised by Capability Brown with later Nesfield influence and had fallen into a neglected state.
We were commissioned by Lord and Lady Brabourne in the first instance to implement a management programme for the revival of the gardens. Having successfully achieved this, a full redesign was drawn up for the resurrection of the formal walled gardens and immediate areas around the house. The gardens were to be completed in time for the royal visit by the Queen and Prince Philip, in honour of the 400th anniversary of the granting of the Royal Charter of Romsey.
We were careful to maintain and preserve the underlying, historic landscape designs, while offering new ideas to suit the desires of the current custodians.
"Since commissioning Taylor Tripp, we have been delighted with the transformation. The gardens are no longer a worry but a pleasure." - client
